Day Trips

Melbourne Attractions

SEA LIFE, the Melbourne Museum, NGV, Scienceworks, Federation Square, the laneways. A full day exploring Melbourne, with someone who's keen to see it too.

What this looks like

A full day in the city.

Melbourne is packed with attractions. A day trip with the right support worker could take in the Melbourne Museum's dinosaur gallery, the penguins at SEA LIFE, street art in Hosier Lane, or the immersive exhibitions at Scienceworks.

Your support worker knows the city and they know you. They've planned the route, booked the tickets, and know which cafe does a good lunch near your first stop. The day moves at your pace. If you want an extra hour in the dinosaur section, you get it.

These trips work for people who love exploring, people who've always wanted to see these places, and people who've been before but want to see more of them. Every trip is shaped around what you want to see and do.

What we include

What a Melbourne attractions day includes.

Your support worker handles transport, the itinerary, photos and sensory planning. You pay for your own tickets and meals.

Door-to-door transport

Your support worker picks you up from home and drops you back when the trip ends. You only take public transport alone if you want to.

On the day

Your support worker pulls up at 9am with the playlist you both agreed on. You're at Melbourne Museum before the crowds hit.

Pre-booked tickets & entry

Everything is booked ahead of time. You don't queue or sort out tickets on the spot. We also know which venues have quiet hours and accessible entries.

On the day

You walk straight past the ticket line at SEA LIFE with your pre-booked pass. The penguin feeding starts in ten minutes and you've got front-row spots.

Flexible itinerary

We plan the day together before you go, but the schedule bends around you. If something captures your attention, we stay. If something doesn't land, we move on.

On the day

You were meant to head to the NGV after lunch, but you spotted a street performer in Fed Square doing magic tricks. You stay for three shows. The NGV will be there next time.

Lunch & snacks sorted

We plan meal stops around your preferences and the venues you're visiting. Your support worker knows the good spots near every major attraction.

On the day

After the museum, you grab dumplings on Little Bourke Street. Your support worker remembered you mentioned wanting to try the place with the long queue.

Photos & memories

Your support worker captures the best moments, the funny ones and the views, so you have something to look back on and share with family.

On the day

You're standing in front of the giant squid at Melbourne Museum, grinning. Your support worker gets the shot. It becomes your new phone wallpaper.

Sensory & accessibility planning

We know which venues have quiet spaces, accessible paths, and low-sensory options. If crowds are a challenge, we plan around peak times.

On the day

The museum gets busy after 11am, so you arrived at opening. By the time the school groups flood in, you're already at your second stop, relaxed and ahead of the rush.

On the day

A day out, start to finish.

Your support worker pulls up at 9am with the playlist you both agreed on, and you're at Melbourne Museum before the crowds hit, straight into the dinosaur gallery for a proper look before the school groups flood in. Mid-morning it's dumplings on Little Bourke Street, the place with the long queue you'd mentioned wanting to try. After lunch the plan was the NGV, but a street performer in Fed Square doing magic tricks changes that, and you stay for three shows instead. Late afternoon you're standing in front of the giant squid at Melbourne Museum, grinning, and your support worker gets the shot that becomes your new phone wallpaper. You're dropped home by early evening, tired in the good way, already talking about what's next on the list.

Cost, eligibility & getting started

What a Melbourne attractions day trip costs.

What it costs

Pricing for a day trip to the museum, aquarium, or a gallery follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The amount depends on the type of support and whether it falls on a weekday, evening, weekend or overnight. If you don't have a plan category that covers it, fee-for-service is an option. Cost, including any entry tickets, is confirmed with you in writing before the day is booked in.

Am I eligible?

Attraction day trips are usually funded under Assistance with Social & Community Participation, a Core Supports category. If your plan includes it, a support worker can be matched to plan and run the day with you. A support coordinator can help check what your plan covers. If there's no matching category, or no current plan, fee-for-service is available.

Where we work

We're based in Thomastown and run attraction day trips right across Greater Melbourne, including the northern, western and eastern suburbs. Regional Victoria is available for many respite experiences too, reaching well beyond the CBD museums and galleries. If you're after an overnight trip built around a Melbourne attraction, we can plan further afield as well.
