Group Adventure Activities

Go-karting at Ace Karts, laser tag in the dark, escape rooms in the CBD, rock climbing walls, treetop adventures in the Dandenongs. High-energy group activities with people who are up for it.

What this looks like

Go-karting, laser tag, escape rooms and climbing walls.

Group adventure activities are the ones you remember and talk about for weeks. Go-karting at full speed around a track, cracking codes in an escape room, climbing to the top of a bouldering wall, or ducking behind barriers in a laser tag arena. These are high-energy, hands-on experiences you share with others.

Your support worker books the venue, organises the group, and makes sure every activity is accessible and comfortable for you. They know which venues have the best setups, which ones are wheelchair-friendly, and which ones have quieter sessions available. They're right there with you, joining in or supporting from the side.

These activities run at adventure venues across Melbourne. They suit people who want something physical and social, with a group to laugh and compete alongside.

What we include

Every group adventure is booked, planned, and supported.

From pickup to drop-off.

Pre-booked activities

Your support worker books the venue, secures accessible spots, and organises group sessions so everything is ready when you arrive. You don't queue or sort out logistics on the spot.

Door-to-door transport

Your support worker picks you up from home and drops you back at the end. If the venue is across town, the drive is part of the fun.

Safety & accessibility checks

Every venue is checked for accessibility, safety, and sensory considerations before the group visits. Your support worker knows the venue layout and where the quiet areas are.

Group energy & team building

Escape rooms and go-karting get a group working together quickly. Your support worker makes introductions and joins in, so you're part of the group from the first round.

Food & celebration

After the main activity, the group often grabs food together. It's a chance to relax and replay the highlights.

Photos & memories

Your support worker takes the helmet selfie, the victory pose and the group shot after the escape room, so you have photos to share with family.

On the day

A group adventure, start to finish.

You walk into the go-kart venue and your helmets are already lined up on the counter. The track is booked for your group for the next hour. You pull on the helmet and your support worker adjusts the strap. In the car on the way to the escape room, your support worker runs through what the group knows about the theme, and by the time you park, you've already got a strategy. The laser tag arena can get loud, but your support worker visited last week and found a side room where you can take a breather between rounds. You use it once, then jump back in for the next game. The escape room clock is ticking. Someone in your group finds a hidden key, you spot the lock it fits, and together you open the final chest. The whole team cheers when the door clicks open. After three rounds of go-karting, the group heads to the cafe next door. You're still laughing about the spin-out on turn four, and someone pulls up the lap time leaderboard on their phone.

Cost, eligibility & getting started

What a group adventure activity costs, how it fits your plan, and how to book your first one.

What it costs

Group adventure activities are priced under Assistance with Social & Community Participation, a Core Supports category, following the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The amount depends on the type of support and whether the activity falls on a weekday, evening, weekend or overnight. If this category isn't in your plan, fee-for-service is available. You'll see the full cost in writing before anything is booked.

Am i eligible?

If Assistance with Social & Community Participation is included in your plan, a group adventure activity can usually be funded through it. A support coordinator can help confirm this, and fee-for-service is available if you don't have a current plan.
