Beach Days
St Kilda foreshore, Brighton's bathing boxes, Mornington's rock pools, and quiet stretches of sand along Port Phillip Bay. Sun, water, fish and chips, and a full day at the coast.
What this looks like
Melbourne sits on Port Phillip Bay with beaches stretching from Williamstown to the Mornington Peninsula. St Kilda has the pier, the esplanade, and Luna Park visible from the sand. Brighton has its famous bathing boxes and calm, shallow water. Further around the bay, Frankston, Mornington, and Dromana have rock pools, pier fishing, and quieter stretches of coastline.
Beach days can be as active or relaxed as you want. Swimming, paddling, walking along the waterline, building sandcastles, or sitting in a camp chair watching the waves. Some people want to spend the whole day at one beach. Others prefer to drive the coast and stop at multiple spots.
Your support worker packs everything you need. Towels, sunscreen, water, chairs, and snacks. They help with beach access, watch your belongings while you swim, and make sure you stay comfortable in the sun all day.

What we include
Your support worker handles transport and sun safety. Bring your own towel and any food.
Beach selection
Your support worker picks beaches based on what you want. Calm water for swimming, rock pools for exploring, sandy flats for walking. They check tide times, wind conditions, and beach access before you leave.
Sun safety
Melbourne summer sun is strong. Your support worker manages sunscreen reapplication, sets up shade, monitors hydration, and watches for signs you've had enough sun for the day.
Water support
When you're swimming, paddling or wading, your support worker stays close. They watch conditions, know where the flags are, and help you in and out of the water.
Transport and gear
Pickup with the car loaded. Towels, chairs, umbrella, esky with cold water and snacks. Your support worker carries everything to the sand and packs it all up at the end.
Beach access
Not all beaches are easy to reach. Your support worker knows which ones have ramps, boardwalks, and accessible paths to the sand, and helps with uneven ground.
Food and comfort
Fish and chips from the local shop, ice cream from the kiosk, or packed sandwiches. Your support worker sorts food and finds the best spot to sit, eat, and enjoy the view.
On the day
Your support worker arrives at 10am with the boot full of beach gear. You've got your bathers on under your clothes and your towel rolled under your arm. You drive down to Mornington and park near the pier. The beach is quiet on a weekday morning. Your support worker sets up two chairs near the water and wedges the umbrella into the sand. You kick off your shoes and walk to the waterline. The water is cold for the first few seconds, then fine. You wade out to your knees and stand there watching a pelican on the pier. After twenty minutes in the water, you dry off and sit in your chair while your support worker grabs fish and chips from the shop across the road. You eat them out of the paper, watching seagulls circle. After lunch, you walk along the beach to the rock pools at the far end and find two crabs and a starfish. Your support worker photographs the starfish on your phone. By 3pm the wind has picked up and you're sandy everywhere. You rinse your feet at the tap near the car park, change your shirt, and eat an ice cream on the drive home.

What it costs
Pricing for beach day experiences follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The amount depends on the type of support and whether it falls on a weekday, evening, weekend or overnight. If you don't have a relevant plan category, you can pay fee-for-service. Cost is always confirmed with you in writing before your beach day starts.
Am i eligible?
Beach days are usually funded under Assistance with Social & Community Participation, a Core Supports category. If your plan includes this category, a day at the coast can be planned around what you enjoy. A support coordinator can help check your plan, and fee-for-service is available if you don't have one.
Where we work
We're based in Thomastown and run beach days across Greater Melbourne's bay and coastline, from Williamstown around to the Mornington Peninsula, and regional Victoria for many respite experiences. Overnight coastal getaways can travel further afield.
