Weekend Getaways

Two nights on the Great Ocean Road, a cabin in the Dandenongs, a beachside stay in Torquay. A proper weekend away from home with someone who makes the whole trip feel easy.

What this looks like

What this looks like

A weekend getaway means leaving Melbourne behind for two or three days and settling into somewhere new. A cabin with a fireplace in the Yarra Valley, an apartment overlooking the surf at Lorne, a cosy bed and breakfast in Daylesford.

Your support worker handles the logistics. They've booked the accommodation, planned the drive, packed the essentials checklist you built together, and know the best stops along the way. The weekend can be exploring a new town or reading a book on the deck.

These getaways work for people who need a change of scenery, people who've been wanting to travel overnight, and anyone who loves the feeling of waking up somewhere different.

What we include

What we include

Every weekend getaway is planned, booked, and supported from your front door and back again.

Accommodation booking

We find and book accommodation that fits your needs, preferences, and comfort level. Accessible rooms, ground-floor units, quiet locations, or places with a view. You walk into the cabin in Warburton and the heater is already on. Your support worker checked in an hour early to set everything up. There's milk in the fridge and your favourite tea on the bench.

Door-to-Door transport

Your support worker drives you to the destination and back home. The drive itself is part of the experience, with planned scenic stops and comfort breaks along the way. You pull over at a lookout on the Great Ocean Road. The wind is blowing and you can see the Twelve Apostles in the distance. Your support worker snaps a photo before you get back in the car.

Packing support

Before the trip, your support worker helps you build a packing list and make sure everything is ready. Clothes, medications, chargers, comfort items, and anything specific to the destination. Your bag is packed the night before. Your support worker texted a checklist and you ticked off each item together. Warm jacket, phone charger, the book you've been reading.

Meals & dining out

We plan meals around your preferences. Some trips mean cooking together in the cabin kitchen, others mean trying the local pub or cafe. Usually a mix of both. Saturday morning in Daylesford. You walk to the cafe down the road and order a big breakfast. The eggs are perfect, the coffee is strong, and the table looks out over the main street.

Local activities

Your support worker researches what's on at the destination and builds options around your interests. Walks, local shops, markets, beaches, wineries, or just quiet time with a good view. After lunch you walk the lake trail in Daylesford. The path is flat and shaded. You stop at a bench overlooking the water and sit there for twenty minutes, just watching the ducks.

Overnight routine support

Your support worker is there for the whole stay. Evening routines, morning routines, medication reminders, and anything else you need to feel comfortable sleeping away from home. It's 9pm and you're watching a movie on the couch in the cabin. Your support worker sorted your evening medication and made hot chocolate. The fire is going. You fall asleep before the credits.

Cost, eligibility & getting started

Cost, eligibility & getting started

Weekend getaways are funded through Short Term Accommodation, with fee-for-service as the alternative.

What it costs

Weekend getaways are priced under NDIS Short Term Accommodation, following the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. What you pay depends on the type of support and whether the stay is on a weekday, evening, weekend or overnight. If STA isn't in your plan, fee-for-service is available instead. You'll always see the full cost in writing before the getaway is booked.

Am I eligible?

If your plan includes Short Term Accommodation (STA), commonly used for up to 28 days a year, a weekend getaway can usually be funded through it. A support coordinator can help confirm what's available, and fee-for-service is an option if you don't have a current plan.

Where we work

We're based in Thomastown and plan weekend getaways across Greater Melbourne and regional Victoria, from the Great Ocean Road to the Dandenongs and Daylesford. Because these are overnight trips, we can travel further afield than our day-trip experiences.
