Anime & Manga Events
Anime screenings, manga meetups, Japanese cultural festivals, and fan gatherings. You share your favourite series with someone who knows the difference between shonen and seinen.
Anime & Manga Events
Melbourne has a strong anime and manga community. Cinema screenings of new anime films at Hoyts and Village. ACMI exhibitions exploring Japanese animation. Madman Anime Festival and smaller fan-run events throughout the year. Japanese cultural festivals with food stalls, performances, and pop-up merch shops.
These experiences are for people who care about anime and manga. You might be watching the latest Makoto Shinkai film on the big screen, browsing manga at Minotaur in the CBD, or attending a cosplay meetup in Federation Square, and your support worker shares your interest in Japanese pop culture.
We keep track of what's coming up in Melbourne's anime scene and plan experiences around the events that match your taste. Subbed or dubbed, classic or seasonal, we plan around what you like.

Event tracking and planning
We keep across Melbourne's anime calendar. Cinema releases, festivals, meetups, exhibitions. When something comes up that matches your taste, we let you know and plan around it.
Screening trips
New anime films, classic retrospectives, and limited-run screenings. We book tickets, sort transport, and make sure you're in your seat before the previews start.
Manga and merch runs
Trips to Minotaur, Anime at Abbotsford, and pop-up shops at conventions. Your support worker helps you browse, carry bags, and track down specific volumes or figures.
Cultural festival outings
Japanese festivals in Melbourne with food stalls, traditional performances, and anime-themed activities.
Fan community events
Cosplay meetups, fan screenings, viewing parties, and discussion groups. You meet other fans with your support worker beside you.
Matched support worker
Your support worker is an anime fan. They know your favourite series, can recommend new ones, and will debate best-girl picks with enthusiasm.
An anime event, start to finish.
Your support worker picks you up mid-morning because the anime festival starts at 11. You've been looking forward to this for weeks. At the venue, you head straight for the merchandise hall and find a stall selling figures from your favourite series. You spend twenty minutes looking through boxes while your support worker finds a limited-edition print they know you'll want to see. After lunch at a takoyaki stand, you catch an anime screening in the event cinema. The crowd claps at the end, and you and your support worker walk out talking about the animation quality and whether the adaptation did the manga justice. On the way home, you stop at a Japanese convenience store and grab snacks you've seen in anime but never tried.

Get StartedCost, funding and where we work.
What it costs
Pricing follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The amount depends on the type of support and whether your screening or festival day falls on a weekday, evening, weekend, or overnight. If you don't have a relevant plan category, you can pay fee-for-service. Cost is always confirmed with you in writing before the experience starts.
Am I eligible?
Anime screenings, manga runs, and cultural festival outings are usually funded under Assistance with Social & Community Participation, a Core Supports category. If your plan includes it, the outing can be funded through it. A support coordinator can help check, and fee-for-service is available if you don't have a current plan.
Where we work
We're based in Thomastown and cover Greater Melbourne, including the northern, western, and eastern suburbs, for screenings, cons, and cultural festivals. Many events extend into regional Victoria too. If a festival or premiere is further afield, we can plan for that as an overnight experience.
How to start
Tell us which events or screenings you want to go to and we'll handle the logistics. We match you with a support worker who knows anime and book your first outing.
