Tabletop & Board Games
D&D campaigns, Warhammer painting sessions, and strategy game nights at Melbourne's best game stores and cafes. You roll dice, build armies and spend hours at the table.
Tabletop & Board Games
Melbourne has a massive tabletop scene. Board game cafes in Fitzroy and Brunswick with walls of games you can pull off the shelf. Dedicated game stores running weekly D&D campaigns, Warhammer tournaments, and open play nights where you sit down with strangers and learn something new.
Some sessions are casual. An afternoon at a board game cafe working through a new strategy game over coffee. Others are committed. A regular Tuesday night D&D group where your character has been gaining levels for months. Warhammer sessions where you spend half the time painting miniatures and the other half playing them across a terrain table.
Your support worker joins the table with you. They learn the rules alongside you, help track turns and stats if that helps, and make the social side of game nights easier. At a two-player game or a full campaign party, they're part of the group.

Game selection
Your support worker helps you find the right games and groups. They match you to casual cafe visits or committed campaign groups, depending on your experience level and interests.
Rules and setup
New games can have thick rulebooks. Your support worker reads through rules with you beforehand, helps set up boards and pieces, and tracks turns and scores so you can focus on playing.
Social support
Game nights often mean sitting with new people. Your support worker helps with introductions, keeps conversation flowing during downtime, and makes sure you feel comfortable at the table.
Transport and scheduling
Pickup from your home and drop-off after. Your support worker keeps track of regular session times, books tables at cafes, and makes sure you get there on time for campaign nights.
Campaign continuity
If you join a regular group, your support worker helps you keep track of character sheets, campaign notes, and session recaps so you're ready each week without scrambling.
Matched interests
Your support worker knows their way around a character sheet or a strategy board. They're someone who enjoys tabletop gaming, so every session feels like playing with a friend.
A game night, start to finish.
You get picked up around 5pm because the Tuesday night D&D session starts at 6 and you like to grab food first. Your support worker has your character sheet printed and your dice bag packed. You stop at a kebab shop on Smith Street and eat in the car while going over last session's cliffhanger. At the game store, the DM has the map laid out and miniatures positioned from where you left off. You sit down, open your notebook, and roll initiative. Three hours later, your party has cleared a dungeon, your rogue levelled up, and you spent twenty minutes arguing about whether to open the cursed chest. Your support worker played the NPC shopkeeper and did the voice. On the drive home, you're already planning your next move.

What it costs
Pricing follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The amount depends on the type of support and whether your session falls on a weekday, evening, weekend, or overnight. If you don't have a relevant plan category, you can pay fee-for-service. Cost is always confirmed with you in writing before the experience starts.
Am I eligible?
D&D campaigns, Warhammer sessions, and board game cafe visits are usually funded under Assistance with Social & Community Participation, a Core Supports category. If your plan includes it, the session can be funded through it. A support coordinator can help check, and fee-for-service is available if you don't have a current plan.
Where we work
We're based in Thomastown and cover Greater Melbourne, including the northern, western, and eastern suburbs, for game stores and board game cafes. Many respite experiences extend into regional Victoria too, and tournaments further afield can be planned as an overnight experience.
